Meet the Staff


Rev. Cheryl Brown,
Director of Admissions

Cheryl is a United Methodist pastor in the North Carolina Conference who served in the local church before her appointment to Duke Divinity School. She earned her M.Div. from Duke Divinity School, a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.Ed. from George Mason University. She and her husband Phil worship and serve with the congregation of Reconciliation UMC in Durham. Cheryl is passionate about being present with those who are faithfully discerning where and when God is leading them to graduate theological education.



Morgan Hendrix
Admissions Services Coordinator

Originally from Raleigh, N.C., Morgan holds a B.A. from Kenyon College in Ohio and is completing a M.A.L.S. at Duke University. Morgan lives in Durham with her husband Brian and their two dogs. Morgan and Brian are Episcopalians who worship locally. Morgan is available to answer admissions questions, and you might meet her on the road recruiting for Duke Divinity School.



Anna MacDonald Dobbs
Admissions Assistant

Anna is a native of Durham, N.C. and a die-hard Duke fan even though she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a B.A. in 2006. She will matriculate at Duke in fall 2007 as a student in the dual degree M.Div./M.S.W. program. Anna and her husband, Ryan Dobbs, currently live in western Wake County and worship at a local United Methodist church. Anna is available every afternoon to answer admissions questions.



Mary Slone
Staff Specialist for Admissions and Academic Affairs

Mary grew up in Atlanta, Ga. She received her B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1998. She lives in Chapel Hill with her husband, Tony, and their two young daughters.  They are members of the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, N.C. Mary is happy to help with questions related to the Th.D. degree and attend to your general admissions needs.



Emily Thompson
Staff Specialist for Admissions and Financial Aid

Emily is a native of Jackson, Tenn. and received her B.A. from Lambuth University in 2004. Emily is married to Andrew Thompson. They reside in Durham, N.C. and attend Duke’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Emily fields financial aid questions in addition to addressing general admissions needs.
