Financial Aid

Did you know that more than 90 percent of Divinity School students receive financial aid, and 40 percent of our students graduate debt free?

Duke Divinity School awards and distributes its financial resources with a view toward Christian charity and stewardship. Our aid program includes:

Most Divinity School students receive some form of financial assistance, and students should be mindful that such aid is a privilege to be enjoyed thanks to many benefactors who have graciously given funds to the school.

Prospective Students

Prospective students who apply online for admission the the Divinity School can also complete the institutional financial aid application through Apply Yourself.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required.

Prospective students are encouraged to complete the Endowed Funds Checklist to assist us in identifying and matching them with named endowment grant funds.

An estimated expense budget is provided to assist with cost projections.

The financial aid deadline is May 3, 2008. Notification of need-based awards for prospective students begins in March 2008.

Returning Students

Returning students must reapply for financial aid each academic year. Application materials are available online in late January.

The required forms include the FAFSA, Application for Institutional Financial Aid, and the Endowed Funds Checklist.

An estimated expense budget is provided to assist with cost projections.

The financial aid deadline is May 3, 2008. Notification of need-based awards for returning students occur in June 2008.

We do not require the College Scholarship Service (CSS) profile.

No parental information is required to determine need; however, we require information from spouses of married students. All students are considered financially independent. All divinity school scholarships are based on merit. Grants are based on financial need.
