Enrolling Users in Blackboard

Dear Faculty,
A number of you have been asking me to enroll specific users into your Blackboard sites but I do not currently have the authority within Blackboard to help with this. Only you and your preceptors have the authority to enroll additional users into Blackboard. Please review the following warnings and instructions for doing this. Let me know if you have any questions or problems.
Andy Keck

Warnings
  1. Enrolling a person in your Blackboard course will have no impact upon their actual class registration with the University (ACES)
  2. All students officially enrolled in the course through ACES will be enrolled automatically in Blackboard. This is updated regularly.
  3. Outside auditors (or guests) without a Duke netid can be given a special Blackboard id in order to access your course Blackboard. You may request this special id through the Blackboard Help Request Submission Form. Please include their name, e-mail address, affiliation and reason for requiring access. Once the account is created, you will still need to manually enroll them in your Blackboard course.
  4. People manually enrolled in your Blackboard site are automatically enrolled as “Students.” If you need someone to act as your preceptor or TA, you will need to go into the List/Modify Users section of the Blackboard Control Panel in order to “elevate” them to a Teaching Assistant role.
System bug

Students that drop a course cannot be reenrolled in the course Blackboard site without intervention by OIT. If this is the case, send a help request via the Blackboard Help Request Submission Form.
