Seminars & Conferences
The Center for Continuing Education offers a number of seminars and conferences throughout the year. Seminars are opportunities for small-group learning and focused study, while conferences present opportunities for broader consideration. Seminars and conferences are designed for clergy, laity or both.
Convocation on the Rural Church
August 11-13, 2008
The 2008 Convocation on the Rural Church, entitled “A Vision of Promise: the Gift of Rural Ministry,” will bring together leaders from rural North Carolina churches, Duke Divinity School, The Duke Endowment, and both North Carolina Conferences for a conversation about the present state of the rural church and how it can engage in even more vibrant ministry and mission today.
Probationers' Seminar
September 18-19, 2008
Duke Divinity School invites probationary members of the United Methodist Church to an annual seminar designed to assist with the preparation of papers for those seeking deacons’ and elders’ orders.
During the two-day seminar, leading divinity school faculty will address the disciplinary questions posed in those papers. Probationary members in their final year of probationary membership are eligible to attend.
