Deepen your practical faith.
Expand your Christian network.
Refresh your spirit.

Our summer institute creates a community of Christian worship, learning, friendship, and reflection, drawing on the vibrant spiritual and intellectual resources of Duke Divinity School. We seek to expand your theological imagination, wrestle with practical problems, and equip you to continue a journey of faithfulness within a wider community.

The 2010 Summer Institute, led by world-class theologians, scholars, and practitioners, will focus on one session for its five days: “The Ministry of Reconciliation in a Divided World,” presented by Duke’s Center for Reconciliation.

Benefits of Attending
  1. Deepen Your Practical Faith
The Summer Institute creates space to deepen your faith and develop new ministry frameworks through theological and spiritual formation in the context of a learning community. Duke brings together theological wisdom with the experience of leading ministry practitioners. The result is a five-day series of in-depth seminars, plenary teaching sessions, small group reflections, and participatory worship experiences that provide space for personal renewal, intellectual growth, and ministry development.
  2. Expand Your Christian Network
Learn, pray, and be renewed alongside a diverse group of participants who share a commitment to reconciliation, justice, and peace.
  3. Refresh Your Spirit
Awake each day to a morning filled with prayer and teaching. Spend afternoons in the gardens and classrooms with theologians and leaders of innovative communities and ministries, wrestling with the most significant joys and struggles of the vocation of reconciliation. Close the day with an evening of fellowship, song, and prayer.
Testimonies from the 2009 Institute:
“Shaping the Beloved Community in a Divided World”
“I was energized by the Biblical teaching and theological reflection, enriched by the diversity of the participants and experienced faculty, and inspired to continue the journey as we celebrated the wonders of reconciliation and lamented the deep places of pain and division in our world.”
— Paula Fuller, Vice President and Director of Multiethnic Ministries, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
"The Institute offered me the most important continuing education experience I have had in my 15 years of ministry…. I thank God for the experience.”
