What is Duke Theology?

Duke Divinity School professors will discuss how significant theologians and theological movements influenced faculty members and others at the school during a series of discussions this semester.The Duke Socratic Club and The Women's Center are sponsoring the series,
“What is Duke Theology? Or … How Did We Get Here?”
The discussions are from 12:30 - 1:25 p.m. in Room 0016 Westbrook and include time for questions from the audience. Register to attend by sending an e-mail to tra5@duke.edu.
The series began Feb. 7 with a discussion on Swiss Reformed theologian Karl Barth by Curtis Freeman, research professor of theology and director of the Baptist House of Studies at the Divinity School.
Other discussions scheduled in the series are:
- “The Niebuhrs” by Allen Verhey, professor of Christian ethics, Feb. 21
- “Yale School” by Amy Laura Hall, associate professor of theological ethics, March 6
- “Biblical Studies” by Richard Hays, professor of New Testament, April 10.
The time and date of two other discussions, “Contextual Theologies” and “Hauerwas on Hauerwas,” featuring Stanley Hauerwas, professor of theological ethics, will be announced later.
