Divinity School Welcomes Summer Course of Study Students

Month-long program includes 174 pastors from 22 annual conferences

July 12, 2006

Duke Divinity School is now hosting its annual month-long Summer Course of Study program, providing theological education for 174 local pastors. This year’s participants represent 22 annual conferences and four jurisdictions of the United Methodist Church. One participant is from South Africa.

Of this group of pastors, 150 are enrolled in the basic five-year Course of Study; 24 are in an advanced curriculum.

The Course of Study School is an alternative theological education program developed by the United Methodist Church for those who feel called to serve as pastors of United Methodist congregations but cannot complete a traditional master of divinity degree program.

Duke Divinity School works with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church to offer the Course of Study program each summer and on a part-time basis throughout the academic year.
