Concert Celebrates 300th Anniversary of Charles Wesley’s Birth

The father-and-son team of S T Kimbrough Jr. D’62 and Timothy E. Kimbrough T'79, D’83 will perform a concert at the Divinity School to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Charles Wesley’s birth.
“Music of the Heart” will feature familiar Methodist hymns as well as poetry written by this early leader of the Methodist movement, that have been set to music. The concert is Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Goodson Chapel.
S T Kimbrough, a member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, N.J., is an international scholar, teacher and musician. He has taught in leading theological and university faculties in the United States and abroad. Kimbrough also has served churches in this country and Germany; and as the associate general secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. He has recorded “Sacred Songs of J. S. Bach” and “The Art of the American Song: Songs of the Wild West.”
The younger Kimbrough, rector of the Church of the Holy Family Episcopal in Chapel Hill, N.C., is a composer and musician. He was the former lead keyboard player and composer for One Real Band in Europe and the United States. His compositions have been published in “The United Methodist Hymnal,” “Psalms for Praise and Worship,” “Sweet Singer,” and “A Song for the Poor.”
Since 1985, the Kimbroughs have performed throughout the United States and abroad.
