Dr. Brad R. Braxton, Associate Professor of Homiletics and New Testament at Vanderbilt University Divinity School and ordained Baptist pastor, presented the lecture on Oct. 2 in the Divinity School’s Goodson Chapel as part of the 2007 Gardner C. Taylor Lecture Series.
The lecture highlighted prophetic preaching within the African and African-American tradition, with a particular emphasis on African-American prophetic proclamation and its impact on transforming the church in the world.
Related events in the lecture series, sponsored by the Office of Black Church Studies and the Black Seminarians’ Union, included a continuing education seminar led by Braxton on Oct. 3.
