Harvard Theologian Visits for Spring Semester

Peter J. Gomes to serve at Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill as Nannerl O. Keohane Distinguished Visiting Professor

Harvard Divinity School’s Peter J. Gomes, Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church, will teach at Duke Divinity School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this semester as the Nannerl O. Keohane Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Gomes, a celebrated professor, preacher and theologian, is an American Baptist minister.

Among his books are “Strength for the Journey: Biblical Wisdom for Daily Living” (2003) and “The Good Life: Truths That Last in Times of Need” (2002), a New York Times best-seller.

Gomes, who in 1998 was named Clergy of the Year by Religion in American Life, is an Honorary Fellow of Emmanuel College, the University of Cambridge, England, where the Gomes Lectureship is established in his name.
