Conference to Explore Aspects of Domestic Violence
March 4, 2008
Duke Divinity School and the Duke University Health System will present a conference at Durham Regional Hospital on April 12 addressing various issues related to domestic violence, sexual abuse and childhood trauma.
Participants will learn about dynamics surrounding different forms of abuse, what victims and survivors need, and community resources and reporting requirements. The conference also will address ways to respond to the spiritual impact of abuse, from a Christian perspective, and how to identify and respond to domestic violence in the health care setting.
It is intended for clergy, lay leaders and others in ministry to families, health care providers, social workers, counselors, faculty, students and others.
The conference is made possible by a grant from the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation.
