Lampstand Goes to Broadway
March 27, 2007
Live at the Lampstand, Duke Divinity School’s monthly in-house talent show for students, faculty and staff, threw off its traditional boundaries on March 23 with a full-scale Broadway revue in the Bryan Center’s Reynolds Theater.
Performances, mostly by students but also involving faculty, included classic hits and contemporary favorites from Broadway musicals including “Godspell,” “South Pacific,” “Les Miserables,” “Aida,” “Rent,” “The Lion King” and more.
“This was a remarkable show,” said Associate Dean Greg Duncan. “We knew this school was full of talented students and faculty, but the audience was simply blown away by these performances. We just had a great time.”
An audience of about 400 helped raise almost $5,000 for the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina. The Divinity School still is receiving donations for this cause. For details, e-mail Sally Bates or call 919-660-3459.
