Opening Convocation and Organ Dedication

David Arcus, Goodson Chapel organist and associate university organist, plays the new organ on Aug. 26

This Divinity School’s 2008 Opening Convocation on Aug. 26 included preaching by Dean L. Gregory Jones and a Service of Dedication for the new Goodson Chapel Organ. Duke President Richard H. Brodhead officially accepted the organ from builders Richards, Fowkes & Co. Organ Builders of Ooltewah, Tenn.

The organ, which features both Gothic and neo-Gothic influences, is approximately 30 feet tall and contains more than 1,800 pipes. Read more about the organ.
