Hitting His Stride

November 1, 2004

Arcus
Dr. David A. Arcus celebrated twenty years at Duke with a promotion to Associate University Organist having first taught in the music department for one year. He served as director of music at the divinity school for three years, conducting the divinity school choir, teaching courses, advising students, playing organ and coordinating music for divinity worship and special events.

Arcus, who has filled dual roles at Duke Divinity School and Duke Chapel since 1988, is now busier than ever. In addition to his duties as Chapel organist, he has added the coordination of the new organ project for the Goodson Chapel at the divinity school and the restoration of Duke Chapel’s Aeolian organ.
