Biography
Bill Quick was born in Marlboro county, eldest son of Douglas and Virginia Stubbs Quick. He grew up in the Ghio community of Richmond and Scotland Counties. He attended Pfeiffer College, Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA and Duke University Divinity School. All three institutions have named him a 'Distinguished Alumnus'.
He served Methodist Churches in North Carolina and Michigan for 45 years and was a delegate to six General and Jurisdictional Conferences and eight World Methodist Conferences. In 1996 the World Methodist Council presented him its "Seat of Honor" during the General Conference in Denver, CO.
The author of “Good News from Detroit” (Morris, 1998), “The Past Speaks to the Future” (Abingdon, 1995), and "Signs of the Times" (Abingdon, 1989), he has also written many articles, and his sermons have also been widely published. Currently, he is serving for the ninth year as a Visiting Professor at Duke Divinity School teaching Leadership, Administration, Stewardship and Finance classes in the "Care of the Parish" curriculum.
