Baptist Scholarships

High quality often comes at a high price. Students can find themselves burdened under the financial load of debt. The Baptist House attempts to help by seeking supplementary financial support through its budget, endowments, and alternative sources.

The endowed scholarship funds currently available specifically for Baptist students include:

  • The Robert and Pearl F. Seymour Scholarship Endowment for the education of African-American Baptist leaders
  • The George L. Balentine Scholarship Endowment for the education of effective leaders and faithful pastors
  • The C. M. and M. D. Herndon Scholarship Endowment for ministerial education
  • The Ned Fitzgerald Scholarship Endowment established to encourage Baptist women to pursue ministerial education
  • The Carlyle Marney Scholarship Endowment named for the distinguished preacher and theologian
  • The Jimmy and Helen Garland Scholarship Endowment for ministerial education
  • The Henry and Helen Turlington Scholarship Endowment named for the distinguished Baptist pastor and teacher, both of whom served as missionaries
  • The John W. Carlton Scholarship Endowment named for the distinguished Baptist professor and preacher.

Links to alternative sources of funding that regularly provide scholarship assistance for Baptists at the Divinity School are listed below. To learn more about providing financial aid to or establishing an endowed scholarship for Baptist students, contact Curtis Freeman at (919) 660-3401.
