‘The Least of These…’ : The Church's Response to HIV/AIDS
Duke Divinity School and Partners in Caring of the Pastoral Services Division of the Duke Medical Center invite you to a special opportunity to expand and enrich your ministry and that of your congregation. We offer you a focused workshop featuring the anatomy of an illness, its physiological, theological and spiritual aspects, and how you, the church, can respond to it more faithfully. The workshop is designed for the following outcomes:
- A specific picture of HIV/AIDS in the Durham area.
- What the HIV virus is and how it is and is not communicated.
- The human face of HIV/AIDS in our communities.
- The spiritual challenges of HIV to persons and communities
- How Pastors and Churches can respond to this illness and persons living with HIV.
We will convene in the Westbrook Building at Duke Divinity School in rooms 0013 and 0014 at 8:30am on Monday, January 28th, 2008 for coffee, snacks and fellowship. We shall begin our program promptly at 9:00am and adjourn immediately after lunch at 1:30pm. We will be led by a team of chaplains, pastors, social workers and others in our field. This program is directed to pastors but not exclusively.
Please email Dagney Jochem or call (919) 684-3211 with your registration today, but surely no later than Thursday, January 24th, 2008.
We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to enhance your ministry knowledge and skill base around this important public and spiritual issue. We look forward to working with you.
