A Morning Prayer of Sustenance
O God of morning mist,
present
but not fully seen.
A breath, a hint, a damp reminder
of unseen life anew.
Do not hurry from your dawn,
O God, do not lift too quickly—
linger
on leaves of grass,
on sparrows’ wings,
on landscapes’ contours,
on childrens’ dreams adrift in hope,
linger here.
Span your haze of water and Spirit
across our lives this day,
O God, your promised covenant
new—
New every morning,
dew damp, mist hovering
Spirit of Life —baptism remembered
in your whispered dawn.
