Flashback:
2006 Daily Journal

Each summer the Duke Youth Academy invites 60 rising juniors and seniors in high school to participate in two weeks of intentional Christian community on the Duke University campus. Participants in the Duke Youth Academy are steeped in the ancient traditions and practices of the church: they study, pray, play, create, serve and worship together. Through the lens of baptism, students and staff discover the richness and joy of Christian vocation.

The Duke Youth Academy is excited to share the experiences of the community with families, pastors and friends back home. The daily journal provides a glimpse into teaching sessions, service projects, lectionary texts and worship experiences each day. Even more, it includes quotes, quips and questions from faculty, students and staff. This journal offers a sense of the daily patterns and practices that shape students throughout their two weeks on campus.

In short, we hope to give you an “inside look” at the life and ministry of the academy.  While you’re not on campus with us, here we invite you to embrace the journey and to investigate the way of life that Jesus calls “abundant.” (John 10:10)
