A Glimpse of Congo: July 2009

Emmanuel Katongole, Stephanie Wheatley, and core partners in the Great Lakes Initiative journeyed together to Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo in July 2009. They witnessed firsthand the painful effects of prolonged conflict but, they also heard testimonies of hope.

The church and its people are striving to rebuild a land torn apart by poverty and warfare. In a pivotal meeting of 19 Congolese leaders, their vision for the future and their message was clear: “In faith, we refuse to lose hope. One day at a time, we are determined to bring God’s vision of reconciliation to this land.”
