Horne Memorial UMC has an opening for a Director of Youth Ministries. In the Raleigh district, Horne Memorial is located in downtown Clayton, North Carolina. Purpose: to bring/strengthen our youth in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Reporting to the Sr. Pastor, the position has oversight responsibility for children's ministry (through 6th grade), with direct ministry responsibility for youth in grades 7-12. This role would include serving as the spiritual leader for summer camp. Ministry would include designing and leading worship 2-3 times a day, leading 2-3 teaching times each day (with younger children and youth), design and lead devotion experiences for the staff and serve as the pastor for the summer staff. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop relationships with the youth of the church. He/she must love the Lord and have a passion to lead young people to a personal relationship with Christ. He/she will be called upon to teach students about Jesus through instruction, prayer and a willingness to seek God's will. He/she must be encouraging and be able to equip others to be the same. A heart for youth ministry, a clear sense of Christian vocation and good communication skills are necessary. Duties include spending time with youth at church as well as outside of scheduled youth activities, communicating with parents, being available to talk to students and making counseling referrals when necessary.
